SSoo the more and more I read, the more it sounds like my fuel pump is going down the drain... so who has changed the fuel pump before and how close are you to fishers?


side note: ever get that feeling that there are too many problems with your car, you need it to last as long as possible but isnt worth half what it would cost to fix everything?...... i do

i have. it's actually cheaper to buy a racetronix fuel pump as opposed to a stock pump. ask stephen, he's replaced his 2x i think if not more.

fuel pumps are easy... ive done 4 of them lol and im with chris just go with the racetronix unit but make sure to get the wiring..

As for getting the racetronix. Its not really cheaper then a OE type. But then again that was with my discount, I think there like $320 or so new for a nice AC Delco(OE) one. the racetronix is like $240 i think with harness.. but some modification is needed to make it work and you have to run the wiring. the OE just swaps out in 5min once you get the tank out.

you dont have to get the wiring. i'm not runnin it. have it and prob will eventually use it tho.

i could poss do it this weekend.

could be a bad thermostat sensor. i don't think that will affect your starting issue because most of the time the car is at zero temp in the morning.

yea, the thermostat has been mentioned previously.... thinkin about adding that to the list of things to replace.

what would a bad water pump cause? how hard is it to change the ECT sensor?

ok. update...kinda

changed the ect sensor and everything seemed to be back to normal at first. of course the engine light went off the day before i was able to change the sensor... anywho, took for a quick test drive and fine. had to run to the hardware store later that day and noticed the temp gauge never moved (dead bottom) then from the store to the house the engine light was on again. still no movement from the temp gauge.

this morning on my way to work the temp gauge was basically still dead, until i stopped at a light.. heard a change in the engine and noticed the temp gauge moving. then dead again.... watching more closely this time... the engine/idle changed again and i noticed that the lights on the cluster kind of dimmed as the temp gauge came back to life! for about 2 seconds....


WHAT THE HELL!!?
